Race Report

Cross Worlds, this weekend, now without cocaine! Mo Bruno Roy, stripped of Masters National title because she raced as an Elite during the season. Not sure how they're licensed, but seems to me like a lot of the men's Masters contestants were names we've seen in Elite results throughout the year too, so what gives? Down Under, the Italians continue to make themselves popular with the Aussies. In other news, finally some justice for a hit and run drunk. At the border, fake official trucks become the tool of the modern smuggler, further eroding the fifth estate. Take some time for Bill Moyers. In lighter news, Bike SnobNYC's funniest in awhile. Go ride.

Political Spoilers: Lance & Bloomberg?

They both say they're not interested in political office, but spend a hell of a lot of face time with the press in an obliquely political spectrum, as this story represents. Furthering the speculation, Mr. Yellow Jersey seems to have hired a team of political aides. Stay tuned...

Cops Vs. Cyclists

It happened again - cops aggressively corral, arrest and detain a Critical Mass, this time in Minneapolis. As the article points out, home to the RNC this summer and least we forget what happened to NYC cyclists at the last RNC...

Lessons Learned A Year Ago

Fortius Quo Fidelius

Practice constantly pedaling and holding a straight line, retrieve, drink, replace water bottle w right hand/ w left hand. Alternate every drink.

Breathe through your nose, not your mouth.

Striking first and then having witty dialog to resolve conflict only works in the movies. Be prepared for retaliation if you throw the opening slap.

Fuel the tank, burn the fuel. Repeat as needed, burn before sleep.

Stop hunching your shoulders, esp. on a bike. If they’re up by your ears yer doin’ it wrong.

Generate every physical act from your core.

Focus. You are the one inhaling, you are the one exhaling. Listen and hear. Know what is far as near and what is near as far.

Literature is magic. Culture comes from cult. Satire overpowers the spell.

Be what you do, do what you mean, say less.

Sustainability is the only way to make conservation work.

Crowd surfing is still stupid. If you get in the pit old one, watch for boots from above.

First Rain of Aught Eight

Which disgraced, accused racer has-been will replace Frankie as DS at The Rock? Stay tuned. Clapton loves bikes; thanks BS. Go cargo, pushing to replace fixies as a trend? Should cyclists have to buy a license? Maybe we'd be more inclined if less motorists got off clean for killing, maiming or having arrested our fellow riders. Ride safe, ride strong, go ride.
